Suzy Zhang holds an MA in City Design from the Royal College of Art and a BA in Environmental Art Design from Tsinghua University. Her education spans architecture, landscape, interior, and urban design, grounding her practice in a cross-scalar understanding of spatial design.
Her research focuses on the relationship between urban space and processes of social reproduction, with particular attention to issues of housing, inequality, and community resilience. Through her postgraduate work, she has explored how design can respond critically to organised abandonment and propose spatial strategies rooted in everyday life.
Alongside research, she brings a versatile skill set in visual communication and spatial representation, ranging from architectural drawing and modelling to graphic design and multimedia production. This interdisciplinary approach enables her to navigate between design practice, publishing, and cultural discourse.
Her professional experience includes internships at design studios and industry firms in Shanghai, Beijing, and Shaoxing, where she contributed to design development across different project stages. Working within smaller teams gave her the opportunity to engage with concept generation, research, visualisation, and communication, building practical insight into collaborative project delivery.
